Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third and final game in the trilogy that finds adventurer Lara Croft maturing in her role, and it looks like one of the best the series will have ever seen.
Shacknews caught up to Jeremy Heath-Smith, the lead gameplay designer on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, to discuss Lara's growth and how she's coming full circle as a character.
"Our approach is to see [the game] through the lens of survival. It's not about being able to swim, although the underwater environments are explorable, they're dangerous. You're going to see piranhas, moray eels, and these sorts of things challenging you. You can run out of breath, and you will feel that claustrophobia and run out of breath."
Heath-Smith also brought up Paititi, the new social experience for Lara, and "the largest hub ever created for a Tomb Raider game." Strap in, it sounds like it's going to be a wild ride, with that knowledge.
"At the end of this game, the third game in the trilogy, she's becoming the tomb raider she's meant to be," said Heath-Smith.
