Smart speakers like the Google Home continue to become more capable assistants for consumers and, earlier this year, Google revealed the "routine" functionality via Google Assistant, which is a way to set up a series of actions between multiple Google Assistant equipped devices based on voice-input. Now, those routines can be set on a schedule and finally gives Google smart-speakers a feature Amazon Alexa users have already been enjoying.
The report of the new addition comes from Engadget, which was told by Google that the rollout should complete within a week across users in the US. It works on the smart speakers only, so Google Assistant on smartphones will not be able to set them.
If you're not familiar, Google Assistant can interface with a collection of hardware including thermostats, smart plugs, light bulbs, and more. With scheduled routines, you can now have your home automated to whatever settings you like at specific times of day or night. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
