Jim Lee Interview: DC Universe Subscription Service 'A Celebration Of All Things DC'

Fans of the characters and stories of DC Comics are in for a treat when the comic giant officially launches their new digital subscription platform, known as DC Universe. The digital platform will offer users access to a wide variety of DC content across multiple formats. Initially the service will be launching in the United States and eventually moving into other territories. A yearly subscription to the service will cost $74.99 and a monthly subscription will set you back $7.99. We got a chance to speak with Jim Lee, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer for DC Entertainment, at San Diego Comic-Con 2018 and he gave us all the details on this new digital service.

Lee explains that DC Universe will carry a wide array of digital comics that will be curated by the team at DC. A large collection of TV series and movies based on these comics will also be available. A portion of the curated comics will be specifically selected to showcase the inspirations and tie-ins to the older shows. The new DC show Titans will be the showcase content for the DC Universe subscription. Titans will be overseen by Greg Berlanti and features a story where former Batman sidekick Robin and Raven assemble a team of heroes to deal with a plot to destroy the planet.

Doom Patrol will another future series to premiere on the DC Universe platform. It follows the exploits of a band of misfit heroes. Doom Patrol originally debuted in DC Comics back in the summer of 1963.
