The crew at Epic Games had a big surprise in store for fans stopping by the official Fortnite blog: an announcement revealing the imminent arrival of the new Fortnite Solo Showdown LTM, a new opt-in gameplay mode that pits only the most confident players against one another in an otherwise-traditional battle royale experience. Keep reading to learn more about the Fortnite Solo Showdown LTM, including its rules, its special rewards, and how players can check leaderboards and the latest player rankings.
What Is the Fortnite Solo Showdown LTM?
Solo Showdown LTM is the latest gameplay mode to land in Fortnite, and it's one that aims to pit only the most competitive players against one another for the chance to win a tremendous amount of V-Bucks. Solo Showdown LTM matches are opt-in only, meaning players will have to specifically choose to play Solo Showdown as opposed to the other Fortnite gameplay modes — essentially meaning that they'll be going up against other players bound and determined to win the prize pool. Aside from this, Solo Showdown LTM matches will play out like just about any other standard Battle Royale matches.
Fortnite Solo Showdown LTM Rewards
The rewards for placing among the top ranked players in the Fortnite Solo Showdown LTM are considerable: first place prize is a hefty sum of 50,000 V-Bucks, while players who earn second through fourth place will earn 25,000 V-Bucks. Beyond that, players who land between rank 5 and 50 will earn 13,500 V-Bucks, and Fortnite fans who wind up between rank 51 and 100 will earn a neat sum of 7,500 V-Bucks.
Fortnite Solo Showdown LTM Leaderboards and Standings
Since the Solo Showdown LTM is all in the spirit of competition — and in earning V-Bucks — the team at Fortnite have provided the gameplay mode its own distinct set of leaderboards. Players can check the standings by heading over to the Solo Showdown LTM post made to the official Fortnite blog. For now, the leaderboards are empty, but we expect the standings to become populated with current player rankings in the coming hours and days.
Fortnite Solo Showdown Rules
The rules for the Fortnite Solo Showdown LTM are simple: matches will play out only with self-selected players, and each player's first 25 matches will count toward their Solo Showdown LTM leaderboard standings. Once gamers are in the match, the Solo Showdown LTM will play out just like any other battle royale match: players will land where they choose in the in-game map, scrounge for weapons and ammo, and do their best to become the last man standing. Beyond that, each player must play 25 matches minimum in Solo Showdown LTM, all set within the same server region, for their wins to count among the rankings.
As for the contest and potential rewards, there are a few additional rules to consider: entrants must be 16 years of age or older, and have a valid Fornite account registered on or before July 18, 2018. The rest of the details regarding specifc rules can be found over on the official Fortnite blog.
Fortnite Solo Showdown LTM Start and End Times
As the LTM moniker might suggest — short for limited-time mode, of course — the Fortnite Solo Showdown LTM isn't going to be around forever. In fact, it won't even be around until the end of the month: as specified over on Epic Games' Fortnite blog, the Solo Showdown LTM is slated to end on Monday, July 30, at 10 a.m. Eastern time — that's 9 a.m. Central, 8 a.m. Mountain, and 7 a.m. Pacific time. Considering that the new game mode kicked off earlier today at 10 a.m. ET, that gives Fortnite fans just 72 hours total to jump into the game and do their best to rank up the Solo Showdown LTM leaderboards.
What else is new in the latest Season 5 of Fortnite?
